13+

There are three ways to enter the College at 13+ (Year 9):

  • ISEB 13+ Common Entrance papers taken in June of the year of entry.
  • College Entrance papers. These papers are for candidates from schools that do not prepare pupils for CE and are sat by arrangement with the Registrar, usually in November or January of Year 8. Pupils entering via this route will sit papers in English, Mathematics and Science. Please click here for examination dates.
  • Academic Scholarship papers, set by the College, taken in February of the year of entry.

For a timetable of assessment dates, please click here.

For pupils registered for College at least eighteen months before entry, and who are not at Cheltenham College Prep School, there is an Entrance Day which is designed to give parents peace of mind that places are secured well in advance of any of these entrance papers.

Please note that the girls’ lists for entry in 2017 are now closed and a waiting list is in operation. Should you have any queries with regards to this, or wish your daughter to be added to the waiting list, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office. The lists for boys’ houses remains open for 2017 but places are very limited and so parents are advised to contact the Registrar as soon as possible if they wish to register their son for a place at College.

We are currently accepting registrations for entry in 2018 and beyond and parents who wish for their child to be considered for a place at College are strongly advised to contact the Admissions Office as soon as possible to ensure that we can consider our child’s application.

Pupils registered for 2018 entry will be invited to an Entrance Day in the Spring Term of Year 7, following which we will make our place offers for Year 9 (Third Form) entry.  For further details, please contact us.

Places are always reserved for pupils who register after the Entrance Day, but this is not the preferred route particularly if you have a strong House preference, or are interested in a Day Boarding place. We are, however, flexible in our approach and happy to discuss individual circumstances.

Scholarships and bursaries are also available for entry at 13+ and further information may be found here.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by email or on 01242 265 662 if you have any further questions, or if you would like to register your child for this next year's Entrance Day.
