A bright future for hockey players

Two pupils, Brittany Sutton-Page (L6, Q) and Emily Drysdale (5th, W) have been selected to play hockey for the Wessex Leopards and Celtic Jaguars U16s, respectively, in the Futures Cup; an annual four-day tournament for some of the best junior hockey players in the country.

Players are selected for one of six squads: Mercia Lynx, Pennine Pumas, Saxon Tigers and Wessex Leopards, with squads from Scotland and Wales, Caledonian Cougars and Celtic Jaguars, in attendance for the first time. It is being held at St Albans over the October Half Term from 26 - 29 October and we wish the girls the best of luck!

Mr Gwyn Williams, Head of Hockey, commented, “This is a great achievement for Brittany and Emily and a well-deserved reward for the effort they put into their game. It will give both girls an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the England and Wales National Age Group Squads coaching staff and give valuable experience of playing in a tournament of this nature, which they can bring back to our hockey programme here and share with the other players.”

Mr Will Packer (Christowe Assistant Housemaster and 1st Boys Coach) and Mr Gwyn Williams (Head of Hockey) are both involved in the coaching teams for the two Welsh squads at the tournament.
