Year 5 pupils enjoyed a whole day of academic and co-curricular activities as the Senior School this week, as part of the ‘College Experience’.
Alongside Head of Third Form, Mr Simon Conner, and the 3rd Formers that would be their guides for the rest of the day, the pupils experienced a morning of hands-on Design & Technology in College’s dedicated facilities. Followed by language workshops in both Spanish and Italian, the Year 5 cohort then went on to eat lunch in College’s grand Dining Hall. The scale of the dining room and the choice of food and drink had a few pupils speechless!
The afternoon saw pupils split into three groups for a round robin of Clay pigeon shooting, leadership tasks and an assault course.
“The day was rounded off with a drink and cookie and all pupils agreed that they were already looking forward to their next visit to College,” said Mr Conner. “They thoroughly enjoyed the practical elements of each session, and I’m impressed to see everyone getting involved.”
The day was just one in a programme of events which offers pupils, from both the Prep and from other local schools, a taster of what the College has to offer. “It’s great to be able to inform and inspire our pupils about what might come next,” said Head of Middle School, Ms Lindsay Gooch. “Year 5 have returned to their classrooms with a renewed enthusiasm for their learning.”
