The Club was started about 15 years ago (and some ‘founder members’ are still playing!) following a suggestion from the then Headmaster of CCJS, Nigel Archdale that the mothers watching a match should play against another school; from small and nervous beginnings, it has grown into a wonderful playing and social club.
The club welcomes current & past parents from both schools, OJs, OCs and members of the Common Rooms and their spouses. We have mixed teams, mixed age range, mixed ability (from limited experience to very experienced players, all are welcome). We have a lot of fun; it is an exceptional way to keep fit and play team sport in a relaxed atmosphere. Limited coaching and skills, but a great way to start the weekend. During the holidays and summer term there is an influx of students and at half term there is a good turnout from current pupils both at College and CCJS. Encouragingly we have regulars in this age group too.
All year round we meet on Saturdays at 8.30 am and in the summer term and holidays we meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm at the College Astroturf.
Socially, there are usually a couple of parties per year, a lot of visits to the pub and coffee in the Bath Road on Saturdays. Last year a gang went to the Cheltenham Festival on St Patrick’s Day.
We are always in need of new players so if you are interested please get in touch!
