Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

Just before Half Term the Prep was treated to the Middle School production of Alice in Wonderland.

With less than two months of rehearsals the cast and crew of Middle School, under the direction of Mrs Douglas, created a magical world down the rabbit hole.

The ninety members of cast and crew performed brilliantly throughout and created Lewis Carroll’s surreal tale in a magical, visual spectacle of characters weaving through Alice’s story from the Cheshire Cat on her high tower looking down on the proceedings to the rather sinister Mad Hatter’s tea party and bizarre croquet game with flamingo mallets and hedgehogs.

'We used lots of coloured wigs and are very lucky to have a large costume store to create the look we wanted. Hundreds of hours were spent behind the scenes with both pupils and staff creating the set, painting huge playing cards and dressing the Mad Hatter’s tea table with giant candlesticks, fairy lights and cobwebs. The most recent M&S Christmas advert was the inspiration for some of the set and look of the characters’, said producer/director Jill Douglas, Drama Co-ordinator. ‘The children loved dressing up in such fantastical costumes, particularly like having their nails painted, even the boys!’

Well done!
