Army Sixth Form Scholarship Success

Army Sixth Form Scholarship Success

Congratulations to James White (L6, Xt) who has just won an Army Sixth Form Scholarship – one of only 40 scholarships awarded annually.

James will now have a guaranteed place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst after university.

The gruelling selection process included interviews, aptitude tests, fitness tests, essay writing and leadership tasks over a three-day period.

Richard Penny, Head of Geography, commented, “James doubtless impressed the interviewing officers with his drive and organisation as he is starting his summer on College’s Nepal expedition and will then be cycling the former Iron Curtain for the remainder of the summer, supported by a College Travel Scholarship.”

James has been set on an Army career since the age of 12.  He plans to study History or History and Arabic at university before taking up his place at Sandhurst.

On receiving the news that he had won the Scholarship James commented “it’s fair to say that this scholarship has certainly been the most momentous thing that has happened to me and I look forward to joining the Army with eager tentativeness!”

We wish James every success with his future in the Army.
