A cast of over 100 Cheltenham Prep pupils has undertaken six performances of their Spring production, Bugsy Malone, following months of intense rehearsal and preparation.
The final week of Spring Term saw the Assembly Hall transformed into a professional theatre with the help of Blue Parrott (an Edinburgh-based production company, owned and run by two former Cheltenham Prep pupils), complete with staging, lighting, sound and a huge video wall! During the final few weeks of rehearsal, the pupils who form the cast and support crew of Bugsy Malone have enjoyed this unique chance to experience high quality theatre productions!
The pupils have worked incredibly hard during this academic year (in amongst everything else they do!) to put the show together, and they will have performed it six times before the end of term (including two dress rehearsals to pupils from The Prep, one performance to pupils from Naunton Park Primary School and Airthrie School, and three evening performances to our own parents!). They have been fantastic throughout, have obviously enjoyed the experience of ‘treading the boards’ (as well as the frequent use of 'splurge guns' that takes place throughout the show!).
Of course, these things are always a huge team effort, and we are immensely grateful to all the staff who have helped us in some way (with costumes, make-up, supervision, etc) – almost too many to mention. The school is lucky to have such talented pupils and dedicated staff. Bravo to all!
