Prep pupils and staff were feeling the love this week, in the run up to Valentine’s Day.
Love was in the air and emotions were running high in the Reception Assembly. The children recited a poem and made declarations of love and affection to their parents, before giving a rose as a Valentine’s gift to their lucky family members in the audience. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
“Being gentle and kind is one of our Golden Rules in Kingfishers,” said Head of Pre-Prep, Mrs Rachael Buttress. “Assemblies like this help the boys and girls to demonstrate kindness and express their gratitude for their families, whilst developing confidence at speaking in public.”
The Library was home to feelings of love as well! All week pupils have had the opportunity to tell Mrs Dawson which book they love and why. Tillie Dessalles (Year 6) loves To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee because it makes you think; Rebecca Cook (Year 7) loves Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan because it’s very emotional and interesting; and Kamila Aldongar (Year 5) loves Harry Potter because it is an amazing adventure story.
“Many of the books which pupils purchased at last year’s Book Sale have been doing the rounds, such as Smart by Kim Slater,” said the Prep’s Librarian, Mrs Sarah Dawson. “It’s lovely to hear boys and girls recommending books to their friends; they’re demonstrating a genuine love for reading.”
