Celebrating Academic Success

Cheltenham College Sixth Form students are celebrating yet another year of excellent A-level results. Against a national backdrop of falling grades, College's pupils once again increased the number of A* and A grades achieved. An impressive 16% of all grades were awarded A* and half of all examinations taken achieved either A* or A grades. Overall 77% of students gained A* to B grades, essential for entry to Russell Group Universities.

Dr Peterken commented:
“As Headmaster I receive today’s results with a great deal of pride. Cheltenham College is committed to preparing young people for life beyond school and I am delighted that our strong emphasis on work ethic, independent learning and leadership continues to impact so positively on examination grades. With a third of our pupils achieving at least three A*-A grades, we can feel heartened by our academic progression.”

Mr Duncan Byrne, Deputy Head (Academic), commented:
“Overall we are delighted that, whilst nationally schools are witnessing lower and volatile results overall, at College we have achieved yet another year of excellent results. Today’s results have been accomplished through the dedication and hard work of our students - they should feel very proud of their achievement. The attainment of excellent results is so important both to gain entry to top universities and also for future career prospects. May I speak on behalf of our teaching staff, all of whom have played a crucial part in today’s achievement, in congratulating our students.”
