The 2016-17 hockey season has been a fantastic one for both Emily Drysdale and India Blake, both for their performances at College and with their teams outside of school. Both have been pivotal members of the girls 1st XI with India being named as co-captain. In addition to this, India was part of the U18 girls team that won England Hockey National Club Vase competition recently at Lee Valley, all this culminated in her being voted Cheltenham Hockey Club U18 Player of the Year.
Emily's hockey has certainly taken off this season, in her second season as a 1st XI player she has also made her debut for Wales U18 against Ireland, then played in test series with Scotland and Switzerland, where she scored her first international goal at the age of only 15. Emily was voted Player of the Year for Cheltenham Hockey Club U16s and now has a summer of more international hockey ahead of her.
Head of Hockey at Cheltenham College, Mr Gwyn Williams said, "This has been a phenomenal season for both players and it is fantastic to see their talent formally recognised by their hockey club. Both girls are members of our Talented Athlete Programme, which supports our most able athletes to excel fully in their chosen sport, not just at College, but at club, regional, national and international level.”
