Following the success at the Harrow Fido May Competition last year and the confirmation that shooting has become a game in all three terms, the expectation and pressure at the first meet of the season were high.
The first V of Shakhin Zamani, Charlie Turk, Charlie O’Bryan, Jack McClure and Tom Hartley, with debutant Valeriya Popeta shooting in her first competition having only taken up the sport four weeks ago, travelled to Barbury Shooting Ground to compete in the Marlborough School Challenge.
The tension was palpable, with tricky weather conditions and a testing course ranging from crows to rabbits, chandelles to crossers and of course the challenging flush. The team shot brilliantly, amassing a combined total of 158 securing them second place.
Valeriya shot brilliantly to secure third place in her first ever competition but the performance of the day came from Tom Hartley, who came second in the competition last year but went one better to secure the High Gun trophy with a score of 37/40! Congratulations to the whole team.
