The Geography department is delighted to report that Anna McIntyre has won the David W Smith Memorial Prize. The competition, open to all A Level students in England and Wales, is run by the Developing Areas Research Group (DARG) of the Royal Geographical Society. This year’s essay title was ‘With reference to one city in the Global South, discuss the key opportunities and challenges that cities pose for sustainable development’.
According to DARG, “Anna’s essay offered a thorough treatment of sustainability in cities, assessing the key opportunities and challenges for sustainable development in Bamako.”
We are all incredibly proud of Anna’s achievement and would like to offer her our congratulations. She has embraced the concept of independent learning perfectly, producing an exceptional essay which saw off rivals from a host of top schools.
