After a fixture on Saturday, the U18 girls’ indoor hockey squad, under the leadership of co-captains India Blake (U6, Q) and Millie Broom (U6, W), participated in the West Indoor Finals. The first pool match was against Monkton Coombe and College immediately started to dictate the play with some patient hockey to ensure a 3-1 win with goals from India, Millie and Emily Drysdale (5th, W). Next up was Millfield in a tight game which the College girls unfortunately, lost however, the qualification was still well within their grasp, as long as they secured wins in the next two pool games. A 3-0 win over Blundell’s with goals again from India, Emily, and this time, Steph Symcox (L6, Q) put them in a good position. This was followed up with a strong performance and a 2-1 win over Queen’s College, Taunton, with India and Emily again on the score sheet. A semi-final loomed with local neighbours Dean Close and this proved to be an extremely tight affair with some close decisions going against the girls. Unfortunately, this led to them losing out 4-2, but the team can be very proud of their achievements throughout the day.
