Head of Rowing

College is delighted to welcome Mr James Bracey as our new Head of Rowing. James has been teaching and managing school rowing programmes for nearly 20 years. Most recently he spent four years in Australia as Director of Rowing at two prestigious schools. He is a Rowing Australia Level 3 Performance Coach and his crews in Australia won medals at State Championship and Premiership level in New South Wales as well as prestigious domestic Heads and Regattas. James was also Head Coach of the Western Australian State U21 men’s squad. When in the UK, he was Master in charge of Rowing at Winchester College, where his crews won medals at National School’s regatta and were regular competitors at Henley. He also coached as part of the GB Junior team.

James graduated with a BA in French and went on to study for an MA in European Literature with a focus on 19th-century art, literature and photography. He completed a PGCE in French and has also taught a broad range of subjects including French, English, Philosophy and ICT.
