Cheltenham Prep is delighted to announce that Sue Ryder has been chosen as their dedicated charity for the next eighteen months. Alysia Cameron Rice, Head of Fundraising at Sue Ryder's hospice at Leckhampton Court, visited a Prep assembly to tell the pupils all about the vital work carried out in Gloucestershire by Sue Ryder.
Alongside providing incredible hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing diagnosis, this wonderful charity provide the emotional and practical support that patients and their loved ones truly need. Their hospice at Leckhampton Court is also the only local hospice that provides over night care, and also has an out-patient unit where people can enjoy a range of activities from arts and crafts to alternative therapies. A key part of their work is Hospice at Home, which means patients can be treated in the comfort of their own home.
"Everyone at Cheltenham Prep was amazed to learn that it costs £8000 a day to keep the Hospice running," said Mrs Christina Conner, who runs charitable activities at the school. "We hope to raise much needed funds in the next eighteen months with all sorts of activities, from bake sales to mufti days."
