In the footsteps of Odysseus

In the footsteps of Odysseus

Four students enjoyed a ‘meet and greet’ session with author and academic Harry Mount on Sunday 11 October as part of the Cheltenham Literature Festival. In the hour prior to Mr Mount’s talk on The Odyssey at the festival, Ines Oliver (U6, A) Ben Adams (L6, BH), Lucy Hall (L6, Ch) and Izzi Winstanley (U6, Q) talked intelligently with the speaker on matters Classical before the journalist recounted his journey following in the footsteps of Odysseus. From swimming the Hellespont to visiting Troy, Ithaca and Crete, he brought this ancient story – and ancient Greece – back to life, in the company of Nicolette Jones. This proved to be an enjoyable experience for our students, not least because The Odyssey is a set-text at A Level. As ever, our students were excellent ambassadors for the College. Their experience of meeting the speaker was made all the more exciting given we were feet away from Ben Fogle and his film crew!
