On Wednesday, the Third Form took part in the annual Dragons' Den competition. This is a day off-timetable in which the whole year group are divided into small groups and are supported to come up with a business idea or invention. They then have to outline what the product or service offers, plan a marketing programme and cost the idea. Every group gives a presentation to a panel of judges and the winners go through to a regional final ‘Young Entrepreneurs’, hosted at GCHQ and led by GFirst, Gloucestershire’s Local Enterprise Partnership.
This year, the competition was won by Leo Jamous, Sean Kim, Rory Maddinson, Georgie Morling and Georgia Turner with a concept called 'Electro Pro', a gym where the equipment could be used to produce electricity as a by-product. Every pupil benefited from learning to work as a group, practising their research skills, developing a new idea, planning a presentation and delivering it in front of a large audience.
