Jamie Chadwick (U6, Ch) has rewritten history by becoming the first female and youngest ever driver to win the British GT4 Championship! Jamie is only 17 years old and in her 'rookie' year of competing in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The win, which she shares with team mate Ross Gunn (18), came at the penultimate race at Snetterton that was plagued with technical issues and worsening weather conditions.
Jamie took over the car in seventh place and was frequently fastest through the speed traps as she skilfully battled standing water and aquaplaning to steadily move up to third place, while her closest rivals slipped from first place to ninth. The race was stopped early due to the dangerous conditions and Jamie gained an unassailable advantage.
Jamie commented "Wow! It's certainly been a tough weekend... but everyone's been brilliant, we worked through the technical problems and Ross and I both did a great job without taking too many risks. I felt I could have pushed harder but, fortunately, we didn't need to and it worked out well! It hasn't really sunk in yet, but it’s a good achievement and I have so many people to thank for that"
