John Marabayev (U6, H), chair of the Wellbeing Committee, tells us more about himself in this week's 'Meet the Prefect'
- What A Levels are you doing?
I am studying Biology, Psychology and Maths.
- What thoughts do you have for the future?
I am hoping to read Psychology and to go on to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience.
- What made you want to be a prefect?
The opportunity to display leadership and to take an active part in the College community. As I have been in College since Third Form, I have experienced the journey all the way through to Sixth Form and there were aspects that I wanted to have a positive impact on.
- How has being a prefect helped your leadership skills?
Governing a committee allowed me to face challenges and work under pressure, as well as prompting me to allocate roles and tasks to each committee member in order to produce efficient results. It gave me an insight into the challenges I might expect in my future career and the ability to communicate my ideas with clarity and enthusiasm.
- What is your favourite meal at College?
I would have to say Chicken Kievs, as they have been my comfort food ever since Third Form. Biting into the crunchy outer layer takes me back to that time.
- If you could make one new rule for College what would it be?
Have lessons start later in the day, as I sometimes find myself in a battle to stay awake through the morning double periods.
- What will you miss most about College?
I would have to say the boarding experience. I love the sense of community within the boarding houses and the mutual support between everybody.
