The pupils in Year 8 enjoyed a varied day of music workshops. Two expert tutors from London came to give separate workshops on rapping/writing lyrics and also beat-boxing. They performed several times throughout the day, separately and free-styling together, and also taught the pupils various techniques to employ themselves - vocal technique, microphone technique, song/rap structure, etc. This all resulted in groups of pupils performing what they had learnt in front of each other - many to great acclaim from their peers. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the 'Chicken in a Bowl' rap, made up by some of the boys! A great day was had by all, and Year 8 are now looking forward to the class music curriculum in the summer even more - when they study pop music and rap with Mr Perona-Wright, culminating in them trying to write their own. Ideas will already now abound!
