A record 26 pupils from Cheltenham College entered the National Schools Rackets Championship this year, more than any other school in the country. The U16 boys' pair, Oscar Butcher (5th, H) and Ollie Baker (5th, NH) secured a fine victory over Eton in the semi-finals of the competition (3-1) before succumbing to a hard-hitting Tonbridge pair in the final, with a score of 1-3.
The girls enjoyed further success: India Deakin (5th, W) battled all the way to the final in the U16 Singles competition where she played the number 1 seed from Wellington and a determined effort took her to the final game. She ended up runner-up, losing 1-2. College dominated the U18 Singles competition which concluded in an all-College girl final where Rose Jones (L6, Q) emerged victorious beating her partner, India Blake (U6, Q) 2-0.
