A squad of 12 girls went to Cheltenham Ladies’ College to play in the U16 county round of the National Schools Netball Competition and made it through to the regional finals!
In the group stages College faced Ribston Hall, Chosen Hill, and Katharine Lady Berkley's School. The girls started strongly against Ribston with an impressive 11-5 victory. The next match against Chosen Hill was much more contested but the girls held on to win 7-6. This meant that if the girls won their final game they would go through as top of the group. The girls put on another fantastic display to win 10-6 against Katharine Lady Berkley's.
In the quarter-finals, the team came up against the High School for Girls in Gloucester. The first half of the match was end-to-end netball with some great play by both sides, resulting in a half time score of 5-5. However, in the second half, the girls stepped it up a gear with increased purpose, intensity and more authoritative play - ending up comfortable winners.
This set up a semi-final against Wycliffe, with the winner of this match through to regional finals. College dominated from the start opening up a 6-0 lead, from this point the match was never in doubt. The girls played with speed, accuracy, and air. The final score of 12-5 showed the dominating performance that the team put in.
The squad now look forward to the regional round which is to be played in January.
