Prep Girls Dare to be Different

Prep Girls Dare to be Different

A group of Year 7 girls were fortunate enough to take part in a WISE (Women In Science and Engineering) event held at Wolverhampton University.

The event was organised by the group Dare to Be Different, an organisation who inspire, connect and showcase female talent in the motor sport industry, and featured leading female professionals from Mercedes Formula One. The Prep girls took part in various activities, such as a pit stop challenge, robotics, simulators, 3D printing and inspirational talks from women currently involved in the world of science and engineering. The setting of Wolverhampton University was inspiring too: the activities all took place inside the university: brand new, state-of-the-art facilities that cost some £12 million to construct.

The girls were a credit to the school and the organisers were very impressed with their team work and levels of involvement. The day’s events gave them lots to think about, having greatly enjoyed themselves and learnt much. We hope to be attending many similar events in the future.
