Earlier this week, the Textiles department took all of the AS and A Level students to London Fashion Week at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. The very best of British fashion was on display, all under one roof in a beautiful space that enabled students to experience the authentic world of the fashion industry.
Upon arrival, students received a highly-coveted limited edition tote bag designed by the very talented accessories designer, Sophia Webster, who is recognised for her delicate, beautiful prints. The day then started with a bespoke catwalk show, showcasing three of the current trends this season: velvet, lace and winter florals. Students then had the opportunity to explore the retail emporium selling independent and internationally recognised brands. To end the day, students were able to gain an invaluable insight into the fashion industry, through a talk from Sarah Shotton, the creative director of luxury brand Agent Provocateur. Sarah started out as an office admin assistant after graduating from Central Saint Martins. She shared her advice on growing an international business and how to navigate the highs and lows of the fashion world today. Sebastian Villars (L6, S) commented, “I really enjoyed the day, it was great to hear a designer speak firsthand about her career.” Izzy Turner (L6, A) also said “It’s the best trip I’ve ever been on!”
