Students raise over £1500 in sponsored DW canoe race

Four Sixth Form students have raised over £1500 in sponsorship for the James Hopkins Trust (a charity that provides nursing respite care for life limited or life threatened young children in Gloucestershire) by taking part in the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race. Darren Hague, Tom Hill, Will Jury-Simpson and Josh Berry trained for months in preparation for the race, which started in Devizes in Wiltshire and finished in the tidal part of the Thames at Westminster. They canoed a total of 125 miles and completed it over four days from Friday 14 – Monday 17 April.

Darren Hague and Josh Berry completed the course in 26 hours 2 minutes 20 seconds and Tom Hill and Will Jury-Simpson took 27 hours 46 minutes 35 seconds. Mr Dominic Faulkner who accompanied them completed it in 29 hours 1 minute 16 seconds.
