Mr Nick Nelson is Director of Internationalism and Culture and Head of History of Art, as well as taking on the extra-curricular responsibilities of Architecture Club, Ornithology Club, College Unplugged, coaching hockey and tennis and organising the House football tournament.
What did you do before you came to College?
University, Gap Years, Teacher Training Course – College was my first post.
If you hadn’t become a teacher, what would you have done instead?
Actor, Wildlife Cameraman, Dance Music DJ, Circus Midget.
What is your favourite thing about College life?
Variety and good banter with the students.
What are you reading at the moment?
The Vanishing Man by Laura Cumming, a book on the artist Velázquez.
A Conspiracy of Ravens: A Compendium of Collective Nouns for Birds by Bill Oddie.
Other than your own, what was your favourite subject at school?
I teach, or have taught at College, History of Art, Art, Music, Classical Civilisation, Architecture and Theology, Philosophy and Ethics, so that covers most of what I enjoyed. Possibly English as an addition.
If you could be Prime Minister for the day, what is the first thing that you would do?
Remind 'my' wife, Sam, of the time I kissed her at school.
