U18 indoor hockey team through to West Finals

U18 indoor hockey team through to West Finals

The girls’ U18 indoor hockey team have qualified for the West Indoor Finals to be held at Cheltenham Ladies’ College on Sunday 4 December. Five teams were in the county round-robin tournament and a nervous start saw a 0-0 draw with CLC and a 0-2 loss to Dean Close. For the girls to qualify they needed to win their final two games. The team responded to the pressure of this challenge and demonstrated some clinical short corner finishing and patient indoor hockey to beat Wycliffe College 4-0 and St Edwards, Cheltenham 2-0 to finish up as runners up and have the opportunity to progress to Indoor National Finals.

Head of Hockey, Mr Gwyn Williams,“The team have committed to the indoor programme from the start and this is just rewards for all their effort in training. We now go to the Finals with a great opportunity to test our indoor game against the best in the West, and anything can happen within this format of the game.”

We wish the girls the best of luck in their match this weekend!
