Upper College Debate the EU Referendum

The Debating Society presented the motion ‘The UK should leave the European Union’ to Upper College, with Harry Steel (U6, Xt) and Neil Hacker (U6, H) proposing, and Antonia Stuckey (U6, Q) and Annabella Köhler (U6, Ch) opposing. The debate was lively and focused on the economic, social, and political ramifications of a break with Europe. When put to the vote, Upper College decided that the United Kingdom should remain in the European Union, the vote being split roughly 2/3 to 1/3.  Thanks must go to the debaters for their engaging and convincing points, and to Miss Brodigan for organising the event.
