Young Poets' Day workshop

Young Poets' Day workshop

New this year, in conjunction with the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Cheltenham Prep hosted the Young Poets' Day workshop. Led by poets and friends Brian Moses and Roger Stevens, pupils from six primary schools across Gloucestershire spent the day looking at different styles of poetry and creating their own poems on the themes of friendship, war and life in the trenches.

On Thursday 9 October children in Years 4 - 8 were treated to a Poetry performance by Brian Moses and Roger Stevens. Between them they have sold over one million copies of their poetry books and anthologies and they have now published two books together, 'Olympic Poems' and their latest book 'What Are We Fighting For? - New Poems About War'. They read and recited, sometimes with music, from some of their light hearted and humorous poems to the more poignant and thought provoking poems about war. A thoroughly entertaining afternoon.
