Our priority in art is to offer as broad and diverse a selection of projects (worked on over a term) as possible. It is vital that children do plenty of drawing practice. At The Junior, we work on building confidence in a friendly and relaxed way, so that the children really enjoy what they do. Naturally they will learn and respect the many qualities and skills required to produce a good piece of work and take pride in that.
Ultimately, as Head of Art, my aim is for all children to come away from each lesson feeling good about themselves and the work they are doing. We want them to look forward to the next lesson, to want to make use of the facilities at lunch time or in an after school activity. We also encourage the most talented pupils to work towards a Scholarship.
