"It is not very often that I am literally stopped in my tracks by something which I have seen, but recently on a quick trip out along the Bath Road, Isaw something in the window of the Red Cross charity shop which did exactly that. Already attracting attention from other passers-by was a beautiful but rather forlorn looking model sailing boat. Originally a fine working scale model of a Nelsonian naval cutter, it had clearly seen better days.
However, with our Junior School CDT workshop just around the corner, here was a
perfect chance for it to have a wonderful new lease of life. Sold. Minutes later at school, boarders George and Sebi were unwrapping a parcel containing the hull and an unruly mass of tangled and broken rigging. Several replacement parts have had to be made and the model is still being re-rigged, but on the Sunday before half term the model took to the water once again for a quick 'sea trial'. A wonderful testimonial to her original builder (and our own boarder builders!), she floated perfectly. We hope that the model will soon be on display, fully restored to her original condition and we shall keep you posted!"
