On Wednesday 30th November the Rifles Company (Advanced Infantry and Leadership) spent the afternoon with 3 Royal Marine fitness instructors and two young officers learning more about the qualities of a commando. The afternoon was very hands-on with the main activity being a one hour commando fitness session where the cadets crawled, sprinted, fireman’s lifted and piggy backed their way to exhaustion.
The fun session demonstrated the courage, determination, leadership and teamwork required to succeed, not just in the military, but in whatever career the cadets pursue in the future.
“It was the best CCF ever, so much fun”. Lily Owen
The Royal Marines were professional, approachable, incredibly fit and inspirational”. Ben Bruce.
Captains Alex Nixon and Chris Moore were very impressed with the effort demonstrated by both the male and female cadets of the 5th Form and above. “They got stuck in are a real credit to College. Even at the point of exhaustion they were still smiling and working hard for each other”.
Earlier this term Will Martin and Rhys Edwards both attended the Royal Marine Look at Life Course. This is a taster session over 5 days and includes the Potential Royal Marine tests. Of the 35 cadets present only 8 passed which included both Will and Rhys. Both cadets were highly commended by the staff but particular mention must go to Will Martin who was a year young for the course and so was up against several cadets two years older.
