On Sunday 11th April, Mrs Christina Conner, Head of Religious Studies at Cheltenham College Junior School and wife of Hazelwell Housemaster Simon Connor, will be running the Paris Marathon. Then just 2 weeks later on Sunday 25th April, she will take part in the London Marathon, all with the aim of raising funds and awareness for Action for ME. A challenge for even the fittest person, completing the runs will be even more significant for Mrs Conner who was once bed ridden with ME. Her motivation is to provide some hope for those with the disease and to encourage sufferers that it is possible to recover and live a normal life.
She commented: “When I was suffering, I used to read many stories of people who had been ill for many years and all wanted was to hear positive news. I took up running five years ago and haven’t look back since - having a dog has helped no end though! I really hope that by running these marathons I can encourage other sufferers to believe that there really can be light at the end of the tunnel.”
We wish Mrs Conner lots of luck as she embarks upon her challenge and look forward to bringing you the news that she has completed both runs!
