Last week, 120 children from five Prep Schools were given the experience of singing in our glorious Chapel. Throughout the day, the pupils rehearsed a variety of songs, from composers such as Bob Chilcott, John Rutter, Mozart, Handel, Mendelssohn and many more. After lunch and a well earned break away from Chapel in the form of a mini rounders tournament (resulting in a tie between Winterfold House 'A' team and Cheltenham College Junior School 'B' team!), the children geared up for the grand finale of the day; a concert in the Chapel with the College Chapel Choir.
Attended by over 100 parents from the visiting schools, the concert was a wonderful event and included some classic music such as Mozart's Ave verum corpus and the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah by Handel. The standard of singing was terrific, and as one visiting parent put it: "I just wanted to tell you how much we LOVED the concert yesterday. It was magical, a wonderful way to spend an hour in a beautiful setting. Thanks so much"
Thank you to all the pupils and Prep Schools involved and of course to Mr Busbridge, Director of Music for organising the event.
