COLLEGE PREFECTS' VISION 2011-12
Cheltenham College aims to be a place where year groups pull together to create a friendly community, where each and every student is valued and their talents and aptitudes are given a chance to shine through. We envisage tighter cohesion between years so everyone’s hard work contributes to the College ethos and pride in success. As a team we will strive to serve the community, to encourage and motivate those younger than us, to uphold what we hope to leave behind. We aim to create an ambience of fun and dedication. You will not find a school with a better heart.
Head Boy: JJ Ball (Christowe)
It is an honour to have been appointed as Head Boy for the forthcoming year and I thoroughly look forward to taking on this role of responsibility. The most important thing for me is that I have the support and respect of my peers and I look forward to making a difference this year.
At Cheltenham College, academic opportunities stretch far beyond the classroom with debates, societies and lectures open to all regardless of academic ability. The teaching staff are always supportive and all pupils have the privilege of a tutor to encourage their talents.
Out of the classroom College offers an endless extra-curricular programme and it is this all-round education that makes College such a special place. We’re a school with an incredibly strong sense of community and a friendly and open environment. There is something for everyone and no matter what your talents may be, you will be recognised for all you have to offer. It is this school, and its special spirit, that I am honoured and proud to lead.
I strongly advise you to and visit us to experience the warm atmosphere and sense of community that is at the forefront of our everyday life.
Head Girl: Meghan Suddaby (Chandos)
I feel privileged to have been given the responsibility of Head Girl and am excited at the prospect being an ambassador for a school where the friendly atmosphere and sense of community are so strong.
In the year I hope to encourage greater student involvement with College life, especially the Sixth Form to be more self-aware and assertive as I believe this will help us develop essential life skills and complementing our work inside the classroom. Furthermore I would love to be able to introduce some new College-wide student events, which reflect the brilliant ambience of co-education and togetherness in College.
For me, what makes Cheltenham College so special is the immeasurable opportunities on offer, combined with the support given to us from tutors and teachers whenever it is needed. I hope very much that you will come and visit us to see this for yourself.
Deputy Head Boy: Guy Brothwood (Leconfield)
I thoroughly enjoy life at College and it is special to be given the opportunity to help others to get the most out of their time here by playing a positive role as deputy head boy. As College Prefects we see ourselves very much as a team and are relishing the opportunity of leading the pupils, as we raise the bar in College life, both on an individual basis and as a collective.
Deputy Head Girl: Lydia Shortt (Ashmead)
I am really looking forward to the year ahead and what it may bring. I am proud to be working with a terrific group of College Prefects in order to support a fantastic College Community. I am excited to drive the charity portfolio forwards along with Will Charlesworth (Boyne) and we hope this will be College’s best year so far!
