Lord Blake's 'Disraeli' is unique and should be read by every student of Victorian history. Political biography is notoriously difficult to write and a successful one is like gold dust. The book is akin to a diet of champagne and oysters; that it overemphasises the role of the greatest novelist and man of letters of any major British politician is no reason not to consume its every, richly rewarding, page.
