Thank you to all pupils and parents who took part in the charity tennis tournament that raised £185 for ‘The Smile Train’ and ‘Action for ME’ - despite the weather! The tournament took place in a round robin format where everyone played each other in their group. It was great to welcome back College pupils Ben Croft, who played with sister Cora, and Hector Hunt who came to support brother Theo and who then acted as pseudo ‘dad’ for Xander MacInnes!
Games were very evenly matched and all players showed great gamesmanship in both victory and defeat. Theo and Dad remained unbeaten in the Red group and played the runners up of the Blue group, Mr Flanagan and Ethan Dowling-Membrado, in the first semi final. The Blue group winners Ella Cutler and Dad played Kaela Wilson and Dad in the other semi final.
The final was a re-match of an earlier group game where Ethan and Mr Flanagan looked as though they were going to get their revenge! Ella remained calm however and didn’t allow the nerves to get to her as she and Dad pulled back to a draw and finally to victory.
Rain didn’t stop play once and everyone, from Year 4 to Year 8 must be congratulated for both the standard of tennis and the family spirit with which everyone participated.
