Gargoyles and grotesques

Gargoyles, grotesques and chimeras... Scary, amusing, even rude, but do you
know what their function is and where you'd find them? This is what Year 5
spent Saturday morning finding out, as well as playing the medieval
stonemason: designing in charcoal and chalk, then modelling in clay -
quicker and less expensive than stone! The results, particularly the clay
models, are stunning and will be on display (once fired), not atop CCJS main
building, but, we hope, in the foyer. Thanks to Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. Bond
for their expertise, to Mr. 'Candid Camera' Lewis and to Year 5 for
enthusiasm and good company. Well done, every one!
