On Friday 10th June the staff and pupils were delighted to welcome 40 pupils from Warden Hill, Christ Church, St Peters and Greatfield Park Primary Schools as part of the Cheltenham Science Festival.
All of the visiting pupils were hosted by Georgie Fowler, Arabella Johnson, Tommy Maddinson, Killian Hughes, Theo Hunt and Jordan Pemberton, who were excellent ambassadors for CCJS. Each pupil had the chance to experience the three sessions led by Mrs Bryan, Dr Gilmour, Mr Baker and Mrs Flanagan.
The title of the day was "Saving Planet Earth" with classes investigating the heat emission of light bulbs, designing a vehicle set in motion by propellers without burning fossil fuels and testing for hydrogen to see the explosive potential as a fuel of the future.
The day was brought to a close with a short presentation by chemist Andrea Sella who showed us carbon dioxide and some cool demonstrations with dry ice. This was followed by eating a fantastic polar bear cake. Polar bear has never tasted so good!
Thank you to all involved in making it such an exciting day for all visiting pupils and staff.
