Parents and boys were treated to a marvellous evening at the Newick House Concert.
Organised and compered by Oliver Thornley and Will Cook, the audience was treated to a great variety of acts, showcasing talent from all 5 year groups. Musical contributions came from Harry Ferris (3rd), Will Martin (5th), and Jolyon Dunn, who demonstrated his superb ability on the guitar. The concert also saw various groups come together for the first time. Alex Mitsch (L6th), Jolyon Dunn (L6th), James Strutt (U6th), Charles Jacobsohn (L6th) and Christian Humphreys (L6th) formed a band and gave a superb rendition of 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' - we will certainly hear more of them in the future. We also had our first "drum-off" between Alex Mitsch and Piers Baillie (5th), which mesmerised the audience with the drummers' speed and variety.
As well as music, we also had comedy and drama. George MacDuff and Archie Charlton (4th) were hilarious as
the abrupt Headmaster and dumbfounded father in a classic Rowan Atkinson sketch. James Strutt and Charlie Turrell (U6th) also gave us a very funny sketch, as well as showing their more serious sides with two powerful monologues. But perhaps the biggest laughs were saved for the Upper 6th sketch, in which the uproariously parodied a House Tutors' meeting.
The concert was concluded with the whole House giving a rendition of their House song, before Mr Llewellyn deservedly awarded Will Cook his House colours, for not only all his hard work for the House concert, but also his tremendous contribution to the House as a whole.
