House Pots Golf

On Sunday 8th May, the inaugural House Pots Golf Championships were held at Cotswold Hills Golf Club. The trophy has been named the ‘Wild Cup’ after long serving golf coach and master in charge Barry Wild. The proceedings started in sombre fashion with a minute’s silence being held to honour European golfing star Seve Ballesteros, who had passed away earlier in the week. Some would say that his effect on golf has been as significant as Tiger Woods. The House Pots event used a generous stableford points scoring system, which effectively had all participants playing off an 18 handicap. It was great to see the camaraderie and competition, especially amongst the brothers in the field! The windy conditions left their mark and, with the best two scores from each House to count, the results were as follows:

1. Christowe – 73 points
C. Sault (44), JJ Ball (29) and J Onslow (17)

2. Hazelwell - 66 points
Z. Yarranton (28), J. Meyrick (33) and A. Braithwaite - Exley (33)

3. Newick - 61 points
N. Langlands-Pearse (19), H. Hitchins (36), F. Nesbitt (25)

4. Boyne House - 56 points
P. Bruins (32), G. Burt (24), A. Lowe (17)

5. Leconfield – 55 points
O. Braithwaite-Exley (33), J. Kirkpatrick (20), C. Kirkpatrick (22)

6. Southwood – 46 points
L. Moore (19), T. Smith (24), A. Gardner (22)

Finally, particular congratulations to the following pupils for coming top 3 in the College Golf Championships 2010 – 11:

1. C. Sault
2. H. Hitchins
3. O. Braithwaite - Exley, A. Braithwaite - Exley, J. Meyrick
