Welcome

Run by Mel and Jim Walton, our Boarding House is home to pupils aged from 7 to 13 from all over the world. Some of our boarders live so close to school that they can walk home at exeats, whereas others live overseas and have guardians in the UK who they can visit for exeats and half terms. Guardians often come to visit us for fixtures, Chapel, Sunday lunch or on birthdays. There are also a number of boarders whose parents are members of the British Forces and based throughout Europe and sometimes even further afield.

We hope that all our pupils feel that they are part of the boarding family and are able to make friendships that are great fun and will last a lifetime.

Pupils can join the Boarding House at any point in their school career and some have lived with us for 5 years, eventually becoming the big brothers and sisters that they once looked up to. It is the pupils as well as the staff living in the boarding house who make boarding life such a happy and rewarding one for all of us.

There are the usual daily routines of cleaning shoes, handing in laundry, showering and getting out of bed in time for breakfast which all become second nature. However what many of our boarders say is a highlight is that you never have the same day twice. There is always some excitement in the House; a sporting success, a birthday, exam results, boarders assembly or the celebrity status that goes with a finger broken playing hockey in the local derby!

The best way to find out about boarding life is to come and try it for yourself and meet some of the boarders who are already making the most of boarding life at Cheltenham College. We would love to meet you.
