Military Honours

Dr Paul Chipman, (Flt Lt Paul Chipman, OC RAF Section) was awarded the Lord Lieutenant' Certificate for Meritorious Service in October. This award, only one step below national honours, recognises individuals amongst the Reserve Forces' and Cadets' community whose performance in service is exceptional.

The award is used to reward long service of high quality, periods of intense and exceptional outputs in support of units or to recognise performance on operational tours that might fall short of national recognition. In all cases, candidates must be seen, amongst their peers and within the communities in which they both serve and live, to show outstanding examples of leadership, commitment and enduring performance in post.

Congratulations also to pupil Will Charlesworth (L6, BH) who was selected for Investiture of HM Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets, becoming an ambassador of his unit and service. Each year the top cadets in the County are recommended to Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for his or her approval. Following their investiture, they accompany Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant at various occasions, including Royal visits and Civic ceremonies, acting as ADCs (anaide-de-camp (French for camp assistant) is a personal assistant) and assisting Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant.

Additionally, they have the opportunity to become involved in special occasions within the community, which are not available to others.

Will has also been awarded an army scholarship giving him a guaranteed place at Sandhurst - many congratutualtions and we wish him well!
