Our Facilities

All children from Kingfishers right up to Year 8 are taught by dedicated and experienced French specialists. The aim is to make it fun for children to learn French and develop their language skills, so there is always a lot of songs, games and mouvement involved! Kingfishers and Lower School French lessons take place in their respective buildings. From year 5 onwards, pupils come to rooms 8, 11, 12 and 13 for their French lessons.

All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, which are used by both teachers and pupils. Pupils have the opportunity to use the ICT suites during their lessons in order to further their learning and understanding. Upper school pupils use headphones to work with French listening files which enables them to get ready for their listening exams while working at their own pace. Also, year 7 and 8 pupils are shown how to make their own podcasts once they have completed a topic to help them practice their speaking skills. Middle and Upper school pupils are encouraged to make their own mind maps/ revision work on computers to help them reinforce what they have learnt and allows them build their personalized revision materials.

Kingfisher and Lower School pupils use resources from ”La Jolie Ronde” but also an extensive range of French DVDs, books, songs, and games. Middle and Upper School pupils use textbooks which provides a clear grammar and vocabulary base and prepares pupils towards Common Entrance and Scholarship exams. Upper School pupils also use KS3 revision and workbooks to help them get ready for their exams.
