Our Facilities

We are fortunate in the Geography department to have 12 computers that are used on a regular basis as part of the syllabus. We also have a weather monitoring system that continually feeds weather data back to a computer in the department. This enables us to produce a short-term weather forecast, as well as being a useful data storage tool.

In addition to these major pieces of equipment, the Geography department has many smaller items including hand held weather instruments, ecology kits which include light and pH metres, and two flow meters for recording the speed of flow of water.

We do, of course, also have all the necessary resources designed to enhance the teaching of the Common Entrance and Scholarship syllabuses. The department also benefits from the Ordnance Survey initiative whereby every person in Year 7 receives a free Explorer map of the area. These are then used to enhance the childrens’ understanding and use of maps, which is part of the syllabus.
