At The Junior you are never more than a few metres from the nearest Apple! We have two specifically designed ICT suites – each equipped with twenty of the latest Apple iMacs, projectors and an Interactive whiteboard with sound system. However, it does not end there…

In Lake House, our Music department, there are enough Apples and digital keyboards to compose music using both Sibelius and Garageband. Both Kingfishers, our pre-prep, and Lower School have computers in every class, a small bank of computers in their libraries and a trolley of laptops. Our WPA2 protected wireless network covers 100% of the school (unfortunately excluding most of the Rugby and Astro pitches!) so interactive, digital and on-line learning can be taken just about anywhere. This is made even easier with the use of our bank of Apple iTouches with their huge range of Apps – ‘There’s an App for that’.

The Maths, English and Geography departments also have banks of computers and the Science department has access to laptop and desktop computers, which we share with the Senior School. Most teachers encourage the use of digital cameras for recording practical activities and we have recently invested in some Flip Mino video cameras, which pupils use to record each other performing public speaking, playing sport and acting.

Last, but certainly not least, each teaching room is equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard (or IWB). These are used in a huge variety of ways by different departments – interactive activities, annotating work, modelling, brain storming, digital media, reinforcement games, research and also with our ActiVote system. This is a voting system similar to that used on ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ which allows teachers to make their own quizzes, tests and problems to challenge the pupils – fastest fingers first!
