Through a collection at our 2009 Christmas Chapel Service, we raised an impressive £578.02 for WellChild. Today, Nessa the mascot popped by to pick up the cheque and to say thank you. A few lucky pupils even got to hold her hand!
WellChild helps sick children and their families throughout the UK as they deal with the consequences of serious illness and complex conditions by focusing on three key areas - care, support and research.
WellChild Chief Executive Colin Dyer said: “We are delighted that Cheltenham College Junior School has raised this money for us and they can be sure that it will be well used in providing care, support and research to help seriously ill children and their families throughout the UK.”
Adrian Morris, Headmaster at Cheltenham College Junior School commented: “We are delighted to be able to donate this money to WellChild. We are always keen to support local charities and with children being at the heart of everything we do as a school, WellChild is a particularly worthwhile cause.
We organise many different charity events throughout the year, from pyjama days to readathons, all of which educate our pupils to think of those less fortunate than themselves. Hopefully our donation will go a small way towards helping WellChild improve the lives of sick children and their families.”
