College Sixth Form students are celebrating a second consecutive year of record-breaking A level results, with 81% gaining A* to B grades and 53% of all examinations taken resulting in the top A* and A grades. AS results were also the best ever at College, boding well for next year’s A level results.
Headmaster Dr Peterken commented: “These are results of which the students should be very proud indeed. They have been achieved through commitment, dedication and the unstinting support of our teaching staff. Excellent examination grades are crucial as they open doors, both to the best universities and successful careers. What makes these results even more significant however, is the fact that they have not been achieved at the expense of extra-curricular commitments. The students in this year group have also excelled on the sports field, on the stage, in music concerts and in their leadership, all of which stands them in excellent stead for their future lives.”
He continued: “Since taking over as Headmaster two years ago, my focus has been firmly on providing an outstanding all-round education that inspires intellectual curiosity and love of learning rather than teaching pupils how to cram for exams. We are committed to preparing young people for life beyond school and I am delighted that our emphasis on work ethic, independent learning and leadership has impacted so positively on this year’s examination grades. These Upper Sixth students have worked extremely hard and should be congratulated. They have made the most of all the opportunities they have been given and deserve to take great pride in their results.”
