Rather than list all the lessons and activities, we thought we would hand over to our pupils to tell you what they think of Saturdays at CCJS. Here is what they have to say:
“Saturday mornings are just pure bundles of fun! They finish at 12:10 for Lower School, 12:30 for Middle School and 14:00 for Upper School but that does depend on whether you are involved in representing the school in a match.
Our favourite day of the week would have to be Saturday because rather than most other schools, which may do normal lessons all morning, we have the opportunity to explore and discover new things that perhaps we don’t have the chance to do in the week.
First of all, the morning is packed full of great singing. We either go to the famous College Chapel or stay in our own Assembly Hall and sing the roof off! We then have two sessions of activities, with break time between.
The range of activities is fantastic. There is anything from cooking in the dining room to rowing boats on the lake; from playing percussion instruments to public speaking; from team building to puzzle solving; from interesting lectures to tips about revising for upcoming exams. At break time on Saturday mornings we always have doughnuts. Delicious sugar doughnuts with red oozing jam in the centre, everyone’s favourite - very messy and sticky but good fun to eat!”
