We have a passion for teaching Shakespeare in a fun, enjoyable way, so that by Year 8 much of the language is familiar and pupils have knowledge of many of his plays.

Lower and Middle School have annual visits from the London-based Young Shakespeare Company; an interactive, participatory group that is great fun and brilliant at bringing an understanding of Shakespeare to very young age groups.

Year 7 all attend a fabulous two-day trip to London. This includes an extensive look at Shakespeare’s London, a tour and drama workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the South Bank and the experience of a performance at The Globe in the evening.

Year 8 have the chance to be part of an elite company for the Shakespeare Schools Festival, a country-wide project run by the National Theatre. This involves rehearsing and performing a 30 minute abridged Shakespeare play in a professional theatre with all their technical support and personnel.
